Q: Do participants need to drive to the individual tours or will there be bus transportation provided to each site?
A: Bus transportation will be available from the Walnut Creek Marriot to the various park sites each day.
If you choose to use the bus, plan to be on the tour for the duration as the bus will not return to the hotel until the end of the day.
Q: What about lunches and dinners?
A: All hosted meals will offer a taste of the diverse Bay Area cuisine. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options will be available. Be sure to join us at the Sunday evening reception at the Marriott Hotel, from 6-8:30pm. Hearty appetizers will be served.
Q: What about dinner on Tuesday, May 7th?
A: All meals are included, except for the “dinner on your own” evening on Tuesday following your tour in the South Bay. A list of restaurants is available here.
Q: Are there meal options for individuals with dietary restrictions?
A: Meals will be catered buffet style with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options so participants can pick and choose. Any pre-made lunch boxes will also have those options available. When registering for the conference, please let us know of dietary or any other considerations.
Q: What will the weather be like?
A: Bay Area weather and temperatures vary greatly so we suggest you dress casually in layers. Hopefully, weather conditions will provide the beautiful sunny days that California is known for. Evenings can be cool, so light jackets are recommended.
Q: What should I wear and pack for the trip?
A: Wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes. The daily tours will be interactive with some minimal to moderate walking. Most sites are ADA accessible. Additional accommodations may be requested if needed.
Q: What to expect while traveling on the tours?
A: Travel to some tour locations will take you on windy roads. If you are prone to motion sickness, please bring your usual precautions.
Q: What about personal hydration and snacks?
A: Water bottles will be provided upon check-in at registration. As an environmental ethic guides our agencies, we encourage limiting the use of plastics in our parks. While many of our open spaces do not have access to drinking water, the buses will be equipped with water and snacks for your trip to the parks.
Q: What is the daily schedule for the events and tours?
A: The general schedule per day is 7am-8pm. Air-conditioned executive buses will transport conference attendees to daily destinations, and back to the hotel at the end of the day. However, buses will not be going back to the hotel during the middle of the day. A hotel hospitality suite will be open Sunday-Wednesday, from 9–11pm for continued networking.
Q: What are the local transportation options?
A: The hotel does not provide shuttle service to/from the airport. Uber, Lyft, taxi or reservable Town Car or Super Shuttle service (ExecuCar.com) is your best bet.
